Local artists aside, the Noise Pop lineup is a bit of a head-scratcher this year. I’ve had a lot of friends ask me, “Who the hell are these bands?” (Like it’s my job to know.)

Local literary magazine The Rumpus recently published an Albums of Our Lives feature on The Thermals’ The Body The Blood The Machine, a great read whether or not you’re familiar with the band. The Portland trio plays Noise Pop on Friday, March 1 at Rickshaw Stop. 8:30 p.m., $15.
