June 2010 Primary Election Roundup: Chan Wins, Kolakowski in Runoff

The twenty races we’ve been watching:

Local:

1. Wilma Chan won a seat on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, representing parts of Oakland, along with Alameda and San Leandro. The former Assemblywoman defeated Alameda Mayor Bev Johnson 54.6 percent to 30.8 percent.

2. Victoria Kolakowski will be in a November runoff against Deputy District Attorney John Creighton for Alameda County Superior Court judge. Kolakowski, who would be the first transgendered superior court judge in the nation, received 45.1 percent of the vote versus Creighton’s 32.2 percent.
